I'd have to agree with the "not a coin" theory. I'm not even sure it's numismatic (i.e. I don't think it's a token of some kind either). If it's ancient, it might be a merchant's weight of some kind (though ancient examples of those are mostly stone, rather than metal). And 2.8 grams is very lightweight for an ancient unit of weight.

My assumption would be a piece of jewellery or something similarly decorative, perhaps inserted into something wooden or another metal object to give a contrasting colour? The large central discoloured blob implies to me it may have been in contact with or attached to something there.

With no visible image I would have to agree with others that it is not a coin, frustrating I know but sometimes it cant be helped.
I own a similar item but mine has an image on 1 side, not sure what it is but pretty sure it is not a coin despite the image being well known from ancient Greece.

1 side blank
The other has Stellar/ flower pattern in an incuse square
Weight 0.33g Size 10mm

Im actually more intrigued with it not being a coin...lol. makes me wonder what in the world it was used for... maybe it was a template for something? Maybe something was meant to attatch to it? So weird....

What about this. Would you leave it as it is and just wait and see if anyone can figure it out or would you create something out of it just for fun? Lol. I'm kind of tempted to do the latter

Personally, I have a little bin filled with multiple "culls" that are unidentifiable so far...

Also, just for reference, here is my Heller with a similar shape (1788; Saxe-Hildburghausen):
