The bottom of the leg on the '7' is the first place to look for the 1970-S Small Date.

Second place is the inside curve on the '9'.

Note the two different hubs used that year? The ODV-026 is the one that has the small date. Just used on the Small date for that year. The ODV-027 had the same date area, but the bowtie was enhanced in 1971.
