mikediamond Pillar of the Community United States 2738 Posts	Posted 06/14/2019 11:16 pm It's either a struck-in flake of metal or a flake of metal that is delaminating from the coin's surface. I strongly suspect the latter, as another flake detached from the area above and to the right of the date before the strike (hence the weakness on the reverse). Error coin writer and researcher. Daves Errors Pillar of the Community United States 1566 Posts	Posted 06/15/2019 12:22 am My guess would have been It Is a 1977 D and has a Retained Interior Die Break starting from the rim in to the coin.
