Pulled this one from an album last night, fingerprints and all. It's a fairly strong DDO but in stage D is so mushy that I'm not even going to try close up shots. The marker for this one is the die chip in the memorial. 1972-D Lincoln Memorial cent Doubled Die DDO-004

The two I covet for that year are the 001 and the 004. Great example my friend.

The 1972 D&S DDOs are very underrated for their strength. They can be as strong as many of the 1972 FS-10X variaties.

Nice DDO. I agree the D&S minted coins of that year tend to be overlooked or at least under appreciated.

Might be a double die. The DDO-004 almost always has a small rim Die Cud just above liberty. There are about 17 other types of doubling for this coin. I need to see the In God We Trust more closely to be certain. Nice find!

HiP, I believe you are referring to the 1972-P coins, on which DDO-004 is noted as having small rim Cuds near the Liberty. 1972-D only has about 5 known DDO's and this is DDO-004 which is very clearly noted by the die marker on the reverse.

After getting the instructions on how to see the photo better, I can see the doubling. Sometimes the photo's are difficult to see. I know the photos I've posted are. I'm looking for a better set up for that. Definitely a good find here. Not terribly familiar with all the DD's. Some of them I can't even tell they are at all.
