1953 Nickel ? - Coin Community Forum

keith New Member United States 5 Posts	Posted 09/07/2008 11:02 am My son and I have just gotten into coin collecting and know very little.I had a bunch of US coins that I was going through and found a 1953 nickel that has no rim,the coin is thin,but is in pretty good condition.Our question is did they make a rimless nickel,or is it something else? The rim might have some heavy wear on it caused by lots of use in coin counting machines and pop machines. Report this Post to the Staff

keith New Member United States 5 Posts	Posted 09/07/2008 12:50 pm Thanks JonS7070,although worn,it does have uniform ridges around the circumfrence of the coin,they can be plainly felt with a fingernail.It is proberly just a worn out nickel,I am still looking for my camera,and hope I can get a good pic.I will say that my son is 13 and got interested in ths about 2 months ago and I told him I would help him however I could,so when we see something we dont have a clue as to what we are looking at.We found this site this morning,and it looks like a great place for advice and information.So far,thanks for the help,Keith Report this Post to the Staff
