Got A Detector Again. Heading To The NC Coast Tomorrow

My wife made me sell mine a handful of years ago and I have been trying to get one in the past week since I will be going to the North Carolina coast for a few days for work. I picked up a Garrett GTA 350 for $120 and I am so excited to get out on the beach and find a whole lotta nothing! I'm sure I might pick up a few coins here and there, but I am hoping with Hanna going through a few days ago I might have a little better luck than other times. When the storm was coming through I was watching the news being broadcast from the beach and in the background you could see a couple of people out metal detecting. Looked like they were working the areas where the beach was already eroding. I actually thought about going over there to the coast to check it out but that thought only lasted a few seconds. 2 hour drive not worth it. And then again you never know. Atleast I didn't come back empty handed, but I got 17 cents (a dime a nickel and 2 pennies) and a bunch of steel and copper shrapnel. Apparently the beaches south of Carolina Beach were used for target practice and I got a bunch of that crap. Mike Report this Post to the Staff

biggfredd Rest in Peace United States 9104 Posts	Posted 09/19/2008 11:24 am Copper scrap is worth more than cents by weight, and comes in bigger pieces. Save it up and recycle it. The 350 was at one point our best seller. Especially when we pointed out that the difference between it and the 400 was the label. Report this Post to the Staff
