westcoin Pillar of the Community United States 9796 Posts	Posted 08/13/2019 9:27 pm looks fake at first glance, rough surfaces, mint mark wrong position. Weak reverse area is not normal on CC coins. Is this one magnetic? If not then I'd bet it's a cast copy counterfeit. Also the weight is probably off too. fortcollins Pillar of the Community United States 3675 Posts	Posted 08/15/2019 11:32 pm Another quick check for suspect Morgans is the reeding. This generation of Chinese counterfeits used a Castaing machine to apply reeding post-strike, mostly in an effort to conceal casting lines. The reeding on the counterfeits is way off. Study the reeding on a few genuine 1878-1904 Morgans, and then compare that to the reeding on the counterfeit. You will see several of the differences immediately. Report this Post to the Staff
