This is pretty cool! Ever since learning about the 2015-D Doubled Ear in the 2018-D doubled ear thread (we thought that I had found the second 2018-D DDO, but wasn't to be) I have found three 2015-D LSC's with a doubled ear appearance, but they don't look exactly like the attributed DDO-001 on Variety Vista. Could this be a second variety? These images are from three different 2015-D LSC's. The DDO-001 has what looks like two "rings" beneath the lobe, and my coins only have one "ring".

@CarlOmaha Your DDO looks a little diffrent, but it could just be me seeing things. Have you checked for die markers yet?

Carl, Congrats on your find's I have 4 like yours but I have not sent them in. Send yours in to Mr Wiles and you could have yours listed in the books as the second listing for the 2015D Double ear.

@jon30
I only checked the die marker for the die crack on the top of the shield on the reverse. Both coins (mine and the DDO-001) have die cracks in this location, but my coin is a little different. I'll study the die markers more closely, now.
I am wondering if it is the lighting in the different photos; e.g. the one posted here, the one on Variety Vista, and the those of my coins, that is making the doubled lobes look different.

I don't mean to steal away this thread. Is it the official thread for this error? I hope so. I took some pics of the die crack area on the top of the shield on the reverse. I cannot tell if they are similar to each other (they might be), or even similar to that on the DDO-001. Different die stage, maybe? I hope someone, here, has better experience.

From the closeup pics of the doubling, all 3 appear to be the same die. But none match to DDO-001.
Nice find! We may have DDO-002 here!

That looks different from the die markers to me. Very exciting! I'll have to check the 2015 D DDO that I found.

I have emailed the link to this page to Dr. Wiles to solicit his opinion and if he'd like me to submit my coins to him.

Carl... The 2015 D DDO-001 Is the coin I sent in to MR wiles.The one you have is different. Send it in to get it in the books as a DDO-002. I have 4 coins the same as yours YES the one I sent in is different and the marker DONT match so send your coin in and get it listed as a DDO-002. I'm not sending mine in.
