It looks like a Masonic symbol in the left side of the conjoined shields, which makes me lean toward a token of some kind, but maybe there is a place that used this symbol?
The right part of the shield looks like Saxony arms.

echizento is correct. I mistook the handles of the crossed swords for something else. Saxony pfennig. This one is close, but is uniface (no lion reverse). It should be from the same reign. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces134197.htmlVery nice find! Nice condition for something that was dug up (certainly you didn't find them in the U.S.?)

While I find it very odd that you found them in the U.S., I have in my possession several medieval Islamic debased silver coins that were minted in Baghdad and were found by a metal detectorist. Not sure if a relatives coin collection got tossed after they passed away, or some immigrants hid them for safe keeping and forgot about them, or what else....
So while odd I have heard of it happening before. Finding them in a bottle dump at least rules out pre-Columbian contact. :-)
(Before someone points out the date would be post-Columbian I was making a joke with the Maine penny in mind.)

Quote: One side appears to be conjoined shields and reverse is a passant lion I might be a little dense, but are these supposed to be einseitigers, or two sided coins? So, are the first two photos the two sides of the same coin? If yes, I find it very interesting that the back of the crossed swords (photo 2) looks like a lion .
