I've asked about this coin a little while back but the pictures did not do the coin justice and the responses ended.

So I hope someone can give me a second opinion.

The coin has a few of the die markers that are related to the sms.

The mark on the tale of the 4
The doubling on the W
The mark on the bottom of the B
Idk...

Not SMS, it's a business strike coin.

If you want to convince me that is anything but a stain under the "4" you are going to need much better pictures.

Here's a link to pictures of a nice one. https://www.PCGS.com/coinfacts/coin...50c-sms/6844

The SMS obverses are VEDS dies. (Very-Eary-Die-State) You coin is a LDS. Not a SMS half dollar.

Note the die flow lines on your coin. The die that struck your coin has already struck a half a million coins already. The SMS is probably a lot less that 100 strikes.

I now have a clear understanding on EDS. Maybe it's just been my experience as I venture through the Coin World but it seems that VEDS/LDS is not a topic that comes up much. I've been learning about coins for about 2 - 3 years now and the term EDS is something I've just heard of. Coming from a newbs perspective it's hard to tell why some coins are selling for 2000 and some for 20. The 2000 $ coin might be one with heavy toning and to the untrained eye it looks beat. Then a similar coin that looks exceptionally clean sells for 20. Understanding and identifying EDS coins takes out a lot of the mystery.
Thank you again for the knowledge and patience. #129488;#128533;#128527;#128184;#129322;

The sad part is that the grading companies don't acknowledge this. Someday they might. Then the people who collect these coins will have a step ahead now of cashing in later on for making it a buying requirement. Why buy a VLDS coin, for the same price as a EDS coin? The ones in the know are now doing this.
