In an old mylar flip it hadn't seen sunlight in a long time. Price was 150.00 firm and I bought it. If this is what Fine Indian cents looked like in the 1980's to dealers would love to see some XF coins I snapped it up seeing a PCGS VF20, however rumor has it my grading skills ain't so great :) Indian Experts - is this coin a VF? Took pics in natural and artificial lights. Color is med.tan even patina both sides, the dings a little exaggerated by android pictures. Edited by luvmyCAM 09/06/2019 3:19 pm

I think its only a fine, but I'm usually a "lower" grader. I checked photograde and it says F12-F15. Probably in the middle as most of Liberty is visible.

I'd have to say F-15, and possibly a details coin with that gouge.

That's a big improvement over the one it replaced in my Dansco. This one gave me warm fuzzys when I first filled that hole. Its time for this one to fade away.

Thanks folks, the gouge would be a concern if I were to have it slabbed but its an album upgrade. All 5 of the certified F12 and 15's I had opportunities to purchase did not have the appeal or strength on me as this one and were priced near book.

Tbop your killin me man. I was ok with price, started at an offer of 120.00 and it went uphill (downhill) from that point still pleased with the coins in hand look. Indians have tricky nuances buying at Fine and above and presently in a learning curve. My first set is G-VG, starting a 2nd set in F-VF. Seems the task is going to take skill, patience, cunning on 1866 through 1879. Looked at many dogs slabbed in straight holders recently so having an open mind on "details cleaned" coins on this set, seen some nice XF's in the semi-key dates pricing 2 grades below. I read there is a niche following in details coins for this series, think it was an NGC article. Thanks again all for opionions.

Hey luvmyCAM ,no problem . I realize that my way of collecting is a lot different than most . If that's the coin you liked way back when, fine . Doesn't really matter what you paid . To each his own .

F-15 at best. The weakness around Liberty holds it back.
