One of my main tricks for taking decent coin pictures has been my trusty FML-27 lamp. It was extremely bright and produced excellent, full spectrum light. Sadly, it finally blew out of the desk lamp and I quickly discovered that Lights of America no longer makes it. There are some Chinese knockoffs out there but they are junk based on reviews. RIP my good friend! I decided to try an LED "full spectrum" lamp after failing to find anything else I like in the fluorescent category. Picked up one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...e=UTF8&psc=1So far, I like it. It's almost as bright as my old lamp but it's far softer. The bulbs in the FML-27 seemed to produce better, sharper cartwheel spokes. Anyhow, just took a couple of test pictures for now. Seems to be pretty good but the real proof will come when I test some toners.

Nice lamp, I really need a new lamp. My near eyesight is not what it was even 5 years ago.

RIP lamp. It is sort of ironic that you said the lamp died, and then that the lamp's name was FML. Good luck!

They sell a lot of those LED lamps at Walmart. I like them due to low or no heat.

I use an OTT-LITE with one of their "white light" tubes. It's significant enough that Goodman memtions it in his book Numismatic Photography.

Always sad to see a trusted took bite the dust, but at least you found something to fill the void.
