Hi again,

This is a really interesting coin. At first glance, it looked like plating with rot, but after seeing the "O" incused with a rim, overlapping the bottom of the S, definitely something else... the A (america) has what looks like really small letters under the horizontal bar (5th photo), and a raised impression of idk...my camera had a hard time with the details, like a faint large "O" between OF.

Definitely curious to your feedback.

Looks like the plating what split with a pin or compass point and not the zinc in the coin is starting to rot away. What happens after the plating is split?

If these size of what you see are not the same size of the devices on the coin, then you brain is playing tricks on you:

It is a bit like dreams. When your dreaming something so impossible and it makes sense, and then you wake up, and wonder why it made sense in your dream. Your brain just tricks you.

While this spot really looks like a letter O, I agree that it is just the underlying zinc expanding as it deteriorates. Not a mint error.
