I am very new to coin collecting so I am still learning the vocabulary. Anyways I came across this 2019 nickel which looks like there may be an error in the date. I cant find any posts or pictures online that can tell me what exactly it is, if its possibly a new error or even an error that doesn't mean much. It looks to me like an extra blob of metal.

@nana7, first welcome to CCF. Second, it looks to me like there is a die chip on the number 2 in the date. Your description of it as "an extra blob of metal" is pretty much straight-on correct. These are pretty common, but of course save it if you want.

to the CCF!

a small piece of the die was missing when this coin was struck. It's not really extra metal, it just a raised spot where the normal metal was allowed to expanded into the hole left in the die.
