PMD, Coin has been sanded and ground down to the size of a dime for vending machine use.

So why is this not a sanded issue on this coin? Note the thickness is reduced, (which we would expect from sanding) but, the width of the coin is also reduced. This coin was dipped in acid. Note the devices on the coin. If the coin was sanded, why are the devices still raised? As I mentioned acid reduces evenly the thickness, width and weight and the reduction does not flatten the devices.

Stay off the soda pop. Too much can induce diabetes. Really bad news, if you already have diabetes.

I know.

@OP

That coin was either subjected to an acid bath or was buried in acidic soil for a good time.

I found one of these altered cents metal detecting once. I knew right away it was to pass as a dime. Mine wasn't dipped however, it was filed/ground down on the edge. Thanks for the graphic Coop -the acid dipping was something I hadn't seen.
