Princetane Pillar of the Community 4628 Posts	Posted 03/06/2020 02:53 am The designs on the last silver coinage of Queen Victoria for the Shilling, Florin and Halfcrown - were amongst the most beautiful of her reign as this halfcrown shows. This cleaned example in VF shows the elaborate shield surrounded by garter belts, tendrils in a Late Victorian pomp meets Arts and Crafts. At the bottom of the crowned shield is the garter belt with St. George the dragon slayer at the bottom. The Florin and Shilling use separate shields for each part and the whole is a catchy eye filling design on the obverse. It was only issued between 1893 and 1901.
