Italy 100 Lire. What a shame it was struck in stainless steel. In silver it would have been a really beautiful coin!

This Greek 1963 30 Drachma coin celebrating the centenary of the House of Glucksburg (Very ethnically Greek people - ) And this was in a pile of "JUNK" silver. The coin led me to read up about these kings and apart from George I who was basically a superstar, the rest were incredibly tragic and unpopular. The coin came out the year before Paul II died and his son ruled for just 3 years as king and 6 under a military junta. For those wanting a riveting read, the first king of Greece (And no I am not talking about Draco, Peisistratos, Pericles, Leonidas or Alexander of Macedon ) Otto - he was completely tragic going from one calamity to another. You have to respect the Greek people for all the struggles they have had to deal with. The coin also shows territorial expansion as well.
