fortcollins Pillar of the Community United States 3674 Posts	Posted 11/11/2019 10:04 pm On your coin, traces of the copper remain. One spot is directly above the numeral "1" in the denomination. It was most likely reverse plated to strip the copper. This is a common high school lab experiment, generally combined with a potato battery. Switching the anode and cathode strips the copper from the coin and attaches it to the copper foil. Report this Post to the Staff
