1992-D-Silver-Looking-Penny

Hi. I have this 1992 D Penny that I need help figuring out why it is silver and doesn't stick to a magnet. The letter looks thick or coated and it doesn't have that sharp detail of a copper penny. I'm thinking I got a science classroom experiment on how to change or remove the copper layer of a penny. Any help would be awesome. Thanks

Can you give us the weight of the coin? That would be a telltale sign.

Hard to tell the colour using a monotone background. Could be plated.

I think your science expirement hypothesis is correct. It looks plated.
