I bought this at a coin shop a while back but the more I look at it, I wonder if it is authentic, or a copy.. And, what is the black on the coin? Unfortunately, the more I magnify it, the worse it looks.. Any thoughts are appreciated..

Have you done a weight and measurement on it? I have some thoughts on it but will not say at the moment. A few things on the coin make me go hmmmm. Some experts should show up soon.

It's a common date.
That would strongly suggest to me that it's real.
But the tests others have suggested are a good start on any coin that you question.
