Interesting British dollar coin, pepactonius! France 1803-04, 40 francs, Napoleon, Paris (A). The revolutionary calendar was used in France until 1806, so this coin from "an 12" is minted year 12 after the constitution of the 1st republic that followed the French revolution. Year 12 lasted 22 Sep 1803-21 Sep 1804 (so mostly during 1804). Later the same year, Napoleon proclaimed himself emperor.
