I've got a bad feeling about 1491 unless we resort to "phone a friend."
It's the beginning of a rough stretch for me; from 1491-1486 I only have two dates covered. After that I have just one gap in 1485-1474.

1491 AD is still a hole for me too, although I did recently pick up a 1473. I hope to get to use it on this thread at some point.

I think I picked up all of these dates since the 5th edition: 1490, (1484), (1482), 1481, 1480, 1478, 1476, 1474, (1471). Mostly Burgundian Netherlands, except the three non-dated which are Italy.
After 1471 I've got nothing datable to a single year until 1407.

I've re-checked the list I made in March; 1491, 1487, and 1486 are the hard dates, but (with 1473 no longer a gap) if we get past those three we shouldn't be stuck anywhere else until catch-up at 1460.

...I hope we do get past those three. It would be sad to get stuck that way.

I thought I've seen another appearance, but apparently I misunderstood it.

This coin on eBay is purporting to be AH 896 = AD 1491, but I would read the date on it as 876 (1472); cf. this clear 876 from the same seller. I wasn't able to find any other 1491 currently offered anywhere.
[EDIT: there's one on Meshok but the auction doesn't end in 9 more days and the seller apparently only delivers to Russia. Might try to get it if I figure out how to make an account and don't get outbid.]

We should probably edit the title and hope someone shows up with 1491 eventually.

Nope, I haven't picked up a 1491 in the last two days that can move us back (though I have nabbed attributable 1403, 1443 and 1450 in the last few weeks). I doubt I'll ever get a dated 1491 since the ones that fit my collecting themes seem to be scarce as hen's teeth.
But for amusement I thought I would post this undated dicken from the Swiss canton of Berne (HMZ 2-163b) I picked up three years ago and have posted elsewhere. This type was succeeded by a dated 1492 dicken with a different design, which I think is the earliest dated Swiss coin. I have seen this one described as both "circa 1490" and "circa 1492," so, who knows? it could even have been struck in 1491

Nope. Six has to catch five. I will not have three running concurrently. Other option is to lock six and call it a loser.

Anyone hear from pepactonius?

Definitely no; wait for a few months at least.
But honestly I'd rather see the project abandoned, with two "ongoing" branches that can't advance and starting a new one disallowed, than have a branch get locked out of order. Who knows, maybe a few years later we'll get lucky and find another @louie (I'd rather prefer getting the original back, but that option seems to be locked out for arcane reasons).

OTOH maybe it's time to start the proposed alternate version in the Ancient subsection... though, again, only if it doesn't require locking this one.

A question ...

The 1486 Austrian guldiner posted by @gallienus last time also has an official restrike: https://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotv...99be49682583

I know that doesn't fit the spirit of the thread, but I am curious if such a coin would be acceptable. The rules just say the coin should be dated, or that a date can be assigned to it by other means (nope, not something I would hope to acquire for my collection. I have my eye on other possibilities that were struck in 1486).
