I have just written about a lot of notgeld variant pieces in my newly published notgeld book 'VARIANT GEMS'. I learnt a lot of small differences that I was previously unaware of so it was a great way to learn. My advice to collectors : always check your duplicates very carefully! The coat-of-arms of Pisz (formerly known as Johannisburg in Ostpreussen) shows the symbol of the local patron saint, St. John Baptist, with his head on a platter. The head is placed on a shield with in the upper half two quarters of the Hohenzollern family arms (the dynasty of the King) and a lower red half. (The coat-of-arms were officially granted in 1645 by King Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia.) Report this Post to the Staff
