Just the letter 'N' is missing. The complete set of 10 spells out the issuing town 'S C H OE PP E N ST ED T. I have just written about a lot of notgeld variant pieces in my newly published notgeld book 'VARIANT GEMS'. I learnt a lot of small differences that I was previously unaware of so it was a great way to learn. My advice to collectors : always check your duplicates very carefully!

Here is a 5pf note from Johannisburg. (now Pisz in Poland). The coat-of-arms of Pisz (formerly known as Johannisburg in Ostpreussen) shows the symbol of the local patron saint, St. John Baptist, with his head on a platter. The head is placed on a shield with in the upper half two quarters of the Hohenzollern family arms (the dynasty of the King) and a lower red half. (The coat-of-arms were officially granted in 1645 by King Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia.)

This piece is missing its usual serial number. It is a nice uncommon piece to have!

This lovely piece arrived today - it has the best raised stamp mark I have seen. Originally issued with a face value of 5 marks, it has been re-valued / overprinted to 10.000.000,000 mark!

I went to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History recently and wanted to share their modest notgeld display. To keep everything on one page, I will start with the next post.
