I would too but being sick and then work took me out of the running for that. I don't get off work until 6pm and the bank is closed at 6pm LOL. My days off are Wed, Thu, Fri and I've been busy with other things. I still have a box of cents to go through, but they are not wheat rolls :( In fact, the weird thing about them is that they are all shrink wrapped, yet have a black line from permanent marker on the side of each one.

"weird thing about them is that they are all shrink wrapped" Ya know what this sounds like. Most likely someones wheat hoard was stolen or inherited and put through a coin-star machine. OUCH

Coindexter,
The new box is shrink wrapped. Most of the wheat rolls were paper rolls and you could tell that the wrappers were old. One even had a tin or aluminum lining inside it. Alot of the rolls had "wheat" written on the side of them in writting that reminds me of my grandparents, alot of the others had the "0" in 50 cents blocked out with a pen. A few of the rolls had a nice BU early 1960's cent in them, so I am guessing those rolls were done up at that time. Somebody definately got ahold of this hoarde and cashed them in at the bank, I just hope they weren't stolen.
What makes the new box weird is that they are shrink wrapped with a black line from a permanent marker down the side of every roll.

I have seen the black line before. The banks used to ask for the rollers name and phone#.In case of a shorted roll. That was back in the late 70s. Nowadays the bank has to black them out before reselling them. Yep them are some old rolls ya got. Nice find slack

That was an incredible find for boxed rolls. Just goes to show you to keep at it because you never know when you'll get a nice surprise like that!

I don't know if this is considered a hoard but I got another box of cents from my credit union on Thursday and this is what I got 1 roll of misc. date wheats with a EF '29 being the oldest. 5 rolls of '51-d 1 roll of '53-d 1 roll of '54-d 1 roll of 1960 sm. dates All of these rolls were marked with a date and a price. The other rolls in the box have no writing on them. I have been through two of the rolls and have got 3 wheat's so far. 3 more '53s to add to the list. Look's like I'll be busy today! I can assure you I'll be back to get some more boxes on Monday. THE HUNT IS ON! JP324

At least your rolls were sorted.. mine were completely mixed... it was a real chore to sort over 4000 wheat cents. Congrats on your find!

Amazing finds, both of you! JP, I think that your batch *had* to have been previously stolen or inherited by an idiot (essentially the same scenarios in my mind). Who would have set all those small dates aside for years, only to cash them in for nothing? I cringe at the thought of what's going to happen to my collection.

jp: Very nice, a complete roll of '60 small dates? I remember back in the '60's when dealers were paying $3 each for circs. That would have made that a $150 roll.
Still nice find.
