G'Day KurT don't think like that mate it couldn't be farther from the truth the gold is still there, just an example of what happens is I use say my GP X to detect a field say 4 years ago and I find 3 oz do another run over the ground and there's nothing left,I use a GP 3500 on the same ground in the same field 2 years later and find another 2 oz do a second run over the land without finding another nugget,I come back with a GP 4500 3 weeks ago and find another 1 1/2 oz on the same ground that I fossicked for 4 years you must know why O.K. improved detectors GP X 2" depth on small stuff,GP 3500 3" depth on the same small stuff and the GP 4500 4" depth on the same small stuff so never give up just improve your detector that's the key hope it makes sense regards Harry

Great stuff Harry! Well done! It does prove that there's still gold out there for the taking & that perseverance is the name of the game. If you upgrade your detector again you'll probably find more a little bit deeper eh?
life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved

G'Day Nod2003 that's what we have here in Sydney,Sydney sits on a coal belt that extends from Woolongong (about a 100 k) in the south to Newcastle (about 200 K) in the north and out to Lithgow (100 K) in the west, that's why I head for the golden triangle and yes there is gold in the state I live in but the state government has to many regulations, that's the reason I head to Victoria. If your area had some volcanics at any time there could be a chance you'll strike diamonds or semi precious stones there, some people just like detecting and will detect parks, schools, building sites and beaches, just because you live in a non auferious state don't let that stop you just go out and swing a coil regards Harry

This nugget is a rare one its from the Kalgoorlie super pit the only one so far as I know in existence ( picked up off the ground by the bloke enlarging the super pit) as all the gold from there is smelted into ingots, this nugget(donated by the bloke who found it) was raffled off at a charity night and now sits in my showcase with the written description of the find and raffle, this nugget is 15.6 g or 1/2 oz regards Harry Oh and P.S.sorry this isn't a detecting find as it was laying on the ground and picked up after being seen,I posted this because its interesting more detecting finds to come

darn nice nuggets Harry. If that don't give you the gold fever nothing will. I would love to go looking for it just once. And of course finding something. Maybe one day I will get to.
