I still question what the grader looks at to give an error coin a Mint State grade. This is an MS63 Red Reverse Die cap. ANACS Certification 1245980

Wow that's a beauty! Incredible piece. This is the die cap itself right?

Yes. This coin was "stuck" to the reverse die for an unknown number of strikes.

Nice example!

I suppose they look at number of strikes / damage?

Have you tried to email them the question? I am guessing they graded it by the reverse, the strike of the steps and columns maybe?

Maybe it was graded mint state because the submitter was a mint employee.

Great example! No obvious damage from circulation, thus still in mint state.
