Those of you that are taking awesome photos with ping pong balls on you Jansjos . . .

What brand balls are you using?

I have no illusion that my ping pong balls are my only trouble, but hey, it can't hurt to take a census.

Table tennis balls are difficult to photograph due to the huge depth of field required at close range.

Get table tennis ball photos right, and
you have well solved most of your lighting problems and all of your focus problems,
when it comes to coin photography.

Maybe no one is using ping pong balls.
Or taking awesome photos with them . . .
I am using Penn.
And do not like them.
They suck up a lot of the light!
Anybody?

I don't use ping-pong balls over my Jansjo lights. What I have tried is taping Canson Opalux paper diffusers over the Jansjos. I eventually switched to the lens-attached diffuser, after a couple of intermediate steps.

Jon K here is how this new bulb works with copper. this coin is in proof like plastic holder. but as you can see this coin is a proof. the mint must have made a mistake. here is the image hope this helps you.
Jon K there is a member here named kanga. he uses a different lamp his works excellent with copper. look for some of his threads

Great pics rocky!

Too bad your numismatic information is not on par.
The cent as you can see is not a proof coin.
Nor did the mint make a mistake.
It's a typical 1996 penny from a proof like plastic holder.
They all had specimen finish that year.
You need to buy a Charlton's or similar reliable guide to Canadian coins.
