Yesterday this 1893 Morgan dollar sold on ebay for $154.01 ...... that was the high bid of 28 bids (and no, I didn't bid on it). This is one of the rarer years, and in this condition and from the Philidelphia mint this raw coin would normally sell for $250 to $350, if it was real. Read the sellers description. He says a dealer told him the coin is not real, there is no return, and yet it sold for over $150 with 28 bids. I can't understand these people, I can't understand this.

So what do you think of this coin?

I think that the seller was right. It is not real. I can't understand why people would bid on it either.

It looks like a scam listing with private bidding. It appears the seller is bidding on his own coin and when he gets a live bite he retracts his bid. Anyone who bought this counterfeit can get a refund if requested as ebay will make the buyer refund the money. A lot of bidders do not read the descriptions.

Buyers don't read, research or think things thru.. They see what they think they see. They shoot from the hip. Happens all the time on-line and in-store.

Yeah, the date is certainly suspect as is the reverse rims from 6 to 10 o'clock. Liberty's bust seems OK, but overall I'd have passed.
