With this one, only missing the Red Seal from 1928 and I'll have a type set of small notes $1.

It really is cool seeing all those different seals all lined up. Nice work.

So sad that the red seal is the expensive one.

This list from PMG shows the notes necessary to complete a $1 small-size design (type) set. This is a link to view registry sets. https://notes.www.collectors-societ...tTypeID=8386

Steve,

Thanks for posting but that's a PMG type set, but my type set is what I posted and maybe the 1928 Red Seal. There is no way I would ever get the red S and R notes. I do have the motto and no motto silver certificates but the seal is the same so it's not posted. I didn't realize that the 1963 was in Latin and 1969 forward was in English. Pretty cool, need to add a 1963 to the list.

At least the 1963 is cheap and easy. The sneaky one is the 1928E. A whole lot of money for a minor difference in the wording over the seal. This is the one that will probably mean I never make this set. I hate that stupid note.
I can see the experimental notes as optional in a type set. Obviously, you should collect as you like.

Interestingly, this post made me do some more research on experimental notes, and I found an interesting note in my collection. I'll post that topic separately.

Collect the $2 type set - it's a lot cheaper.

That 1928 red seal is the tricky one. Considering that it was released in the 50's I expected it to be cheaper than it is. I'm like you, it's a lot of money for a $1 note. It's on my list but it's definitely a long term purchase. I have a few others before that 1.

Next one, why is William Meredith so grumpy? Was he having a bad day, did he want to be on a 25 cent note? The world may never know.
