Over 2.6 BILLION of this design printed, remarkable even by today's standards nearly a hundred years later.

While I'm not a fan of the aesthetics, my dad left me a few 1957 Silver Certificates, this one is a continuation of that series. This was also one that I could have picked up in better condition, but I'm sticking with VF. Nice to have a comparable set.

When I got this one I realized I had no CU green seals $1 bills, after getting a few packs from the bank all were circulated so a very generous collector is going to mail me 2 CU $1 notes so I can have a sample of each type. The people on CFF are really wonderful people (well not all of you, some of you are "bullies" you know who you are )

I've heard this term "bully" several times. What exactly makes a member a bully, and what are the characteristics that fall under this label ?

Personally, I haven't experienced it here.

My final fathers day gift. I think the family did really well. This is a $5 large note. The more I see the golden age of money in the US was the early 20th century. Everything from the Mercury dime, to the standing liberty to walking liberty to the bison nickel to the large notes. Just beautiful money.

I was able to pick up a CU fractional note. I really like the details and the use of Columbia. My personal feeling is we need to go back to beautiful women on notes and coins. These old man are getting tiring.

Well-centered "Spinner", always enjoyable to look at.

@Frog,

I noticed that the "spinner" notes are cut all different, with many having part of the design cut off and many are not rectangular. Where these cut by hand?

Fractional currency was only issued for 14 years, as I recall. I know the earliest issues were cut by hand at the Treasury, but how long this continued I'm unsure.

Further research confirms that later issue sheets were cut mechanically, but not sure of the exact date - probably late 1860's.

I can't seem to get CU modern notes. Couldn't find $1, $5 and $10. I ended up reaching out to a fellow collector that got me CU $5 and also had CU $1. He sent me a couple of CU $1 for my collection.
