As @HokieFan is a really bad influence, and as my wife asked me what I wanted for my birthday, I asked for a note. But not any specific note, I asked for a hand signed fractional. This is FR 1328 which although not common is the most common of the hand signed notes. Its also a beautiful red backed note. The ink bleed through is a common characteristics of a hand signed note. I personally think its really cool and the grade is sweet, my highest graded fractional.

Quote: Thanks Hokie!! When you getting yours? USPS tracking says Wednesday right now, so we'll see! It seems to be taking the scenic route getting here. Mine is the same Fr#, but I think Spinner had been drinking or was tired when he signed the one I got, as the signature kind of drifts off towards the bottom of the note...

A very beautiful banknote, congratulations on the replenishment. Quote: my wife asked me what I wanted for my birthday, I asked for a note. When's your birthday?Did you have a birthday on September 5th ? Quote: The fast explanation is, unlike coins which display the year they were minted, paper money uses a dated series which has nothing to do with when the notes were printed. Thanks for the explanation, I didn't know that before.

Sadly this note maybe it for a while I still want a few more red backed 3rd issue, but I have notes from Portugal on hold and those are harder to find than US notes. Today's note is another 3rd issue, but this one is FR 1339 which has the type 2 back. This one is scarce compared to the others, but still one of the more common Type 2 Backs.

I have good news, but it will be a looooooong while. A fellow collector has a large sized note I want and as he upgraded he offered me his note. I couldn't say no, it's going to take me a while to pay for it but it's a note I lusted over. So we all have to wait. Pictures will come but it's going to be a long time.
