I have good news, but it will be a looooooong while. A fellow collector has a large sized note I want and as he upgraded he offered me his note. I couldn't say no, it's going to take me a while to pay for it but it's a note I lusted over. So we all have to wait. Pictures will come but it's going to be a long time.
Excellent!

Like I hinted above, a fellow collector recently upgraded one of his notes and offered me the one he previously had. I couldn't say no. This note has been on my list since I started collecting paper currency. Its a beautiful note looking much better than the XF40. It does have a minor repair which made the price a little nicer.

What can we say...

The obverse of these notes depict a neoclassical allegorical motif, with the $1 representing history instructing youth. The motifs are representations of the theme written on the note. The back contained of each note has the profiles of two American figures set against an ornate background.

Denominations of $1, $2, and $5 were produced. In addition to $1, $2 and $5 notes denominations of $10, $20, $50, $100, $500 and $1000 were also planned. Designs for a $10 and $50 denomination were being prepared but were never completed or produced before the series was abandoned and replaced by the series of 1899.

The term "Educational" is derived from the title of the vignette on the $1 note, ''History Instructing Youth.''

The note:

My local dealer also recently got a book with lots of US notes that I am drooling over. I already put 4 on hold, so this thread may come back from the dead.

I still think Lady Liberty is getting a bit too friendly with that lad.

I just realized this note is an " A " series. Nice 6 digit serial number, Are the A series more uncommon than the B,or vice-a versa? Sweet

@Morgans_Dad, yes the US BEP released these in $1,$2 and $5, they had the engraving for the $10 but it was never released.

There are 2 Frieberg numbers F224 (which this one is) and F225. The difference is that this F224 has Morgan and Tilman signature while F225 has Roberts and Bruce. As for the A/B series, I don't believe many collect my series letter.
