i am in Canada but I spoke with the ups driver, who dropped off a package where I work, he said, a signature is no longer required, all he needs is the name of the person who received it.. so if your name is on the package all they need to do is write your first name on the machine,,then they are good..

also in Canada all registered mail that demands a signature, is being waived.. I actually received a letter sent registered mail, that they put a black marker strike through the tracking number and put it in the regular mail.. go figure..

So one could claim they never got the item and postal service would have no proof otherwise and probably have to pay an insurance claim?

UPS knock on the door today and handed my wife a package without wearing face mask, left in a hurry and not requiring a signature even when it stated signature required. But at least my wife had her face mask on at the time answering the UPS guy, the pandemic is changing how people interact from now on until a vaccine is available.

Talking about mask and Vaccines is not political? Just asking since I am getting warnings for being "Political"

This post was not censored...so its ok? Just asking...so I will know if I can post about masks and Vaccines, ok not.

No, usually only if lost in transit, not if posted delivered.

The post was not censored because it was not about politics. Any discussions on masks, vaccines, medical issues and other topics like climate change and sea level rise (and so on) in general fall under the broader topic of "science".

This forum is about numismatics. That poster had every right to be concerned how his numismatic parcels are being handled and delivered during a pandemic. This pandemic is why numismatic companies like PCGS and NGC have recently altered their policies, for the safety of the collector. Go to another forum if you want to discuss the finer details of how you think medical science and politics interact. But be prepared to cite credible, peer-reviewed research in non-predatory journals.

Note: I am a scientist, even my business card says "Research Scientist" and I carry no political stripe. Don't even try to explain your own political opinions of masks and vaccines to me or anyone else on this site.

I know old thread, but FedEx just did same to me not bullion or several thousand but a couple thousand...
I'm a ups driver and our policy for covid is similar to other carriers however we have to make sure someone comes to door and we will mark covid (CVD last name) for signature. I can't imagine how many claims are I'm review for them, especially year over year increase.
Gonna have to start the fun process if it's not there when I get home 11 hours from now.

to the Community, Alwaysinbrown!

For what it is worth, my wife got some Christmas booze from Hawaii this week and the FedEx delivery person waited for a signature. I guess they fear the ATF more than bullion collectors.
