These all came out of one box. Over the past 6 or 7 months I've been seeing very similar (if not exactly like these) quarters coming out of other boxes.

I know they are all damaged. I have thrown them all back. They all seem to be (or are) damaged in a surprisingly similar way, including the color. Almost like they went through a grinding machine of some type or hit with a hammer. The color almost looks like metal detector finds coming out of the ground, very strange. As soon as I open the rolls, they all immediately jump out at you!

They are all clad, dates range from the 80's thru 2000's. I know you can use your imagination on how or way they were damaged.

My question: Just curious, have any of you seen anything similar coming out of your boxes or rolls?

I come across similarly challenged quarters at a rate of about 1 in 200.

I run into quarters like that more frequently in the USA than Canada. I don't think that is uncommon to find that many damaged ones. A little higher than average.

That is where I was going.

Yes. It does not take long, especially if the water is treated at all.

Back in the late 1980s I worked for a general contractor and one of the jobs we had was renovating an indoor shopping mall. We had to drain and clear the fountains. I thought it would be a dream searching all those coins, but it was a nightmare! Poor things never had a chance.
