I didn't have one of these and a hard one to pick. I'm calling it LDS because of the die break west of the ear. It could be a new die state. This guy had it listed for auction with a starting bid of $12.99 but accepting offers. I offered $13 and they accepted! What do y'all think?

Love that tail on the 9. Can't miss it. Coingrats.

When I was a kid, in the early 90s my stepfather inherited a friends coin collection. I ended up with some of it. Uncirculated CCs and a 1876S $20 gold piece. But I remember he had three five gallon buckets of decent condition 1943 steels. Really wish I could have them now!!

Awesome purchase Will! I would call it LMDS (Late Mid Die State) in my honest opinion.

Super price for that coin. Looks like there is a die crack on the head? Also on the left wheat stem, the die was polished that thinned that device. Great find.

Thanks guys. I looked on coppercoins and they mentioned a die crack west of the ear on the MDS coins. I originally thought it could be a lam from the sellers pics.

This one is also a great example of how class 6 doubling affects the vertical elements of LIBERTY. Usually the curved "spine" is only visible on the IBE, but with this one, you can see it on IBERT along with thickness on the left arm of the Y.

I'm glad you like the coin! I thought it was you, Willburton, when I got the "Best Offer" and I wanted it to go to someone who would appreciate it. Obviously you do! You've been nice enough to comment on some of my posts in the past and I thank you.

On a side note: for some reason I keep finding this variety and, though I've sold a few I still have 5 or 6 of them. It is one of my favorite Doubled dies and I still get stoked when I find one. Enjoy the coin, Willburton!
