@ariette, that lion holding a sword on your first and third coins is pretty much always going to be Iran and the temple on the second coin is diagnostic for Afghanistan. Have you considered downloading the free app called "coinoscope"? I have nothing to do with the company that designed that app, but for world coins like these, it is actually quite good at narrowing down the identification.

Last one is a 1352(1973) copper nickel 5 Rials

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces3763.html

first is a 1 Rial one of these probably but I can't read the date. It should be silver. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces10723.html

Second is a 1/2 Afghani 1305 :

I agreee with @spence that the app mentioned could help you with these.

#2 1/2 afghani, 1305 = 1926 https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces36971.html

#1 is a 2 riyal, https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces22438.html Thedate is 1323 = 1945. My dad brought one of these back from his postings in WWII.

Very nice, were you lucky enough to get one that has a decent strike on the lion?

Thanks for the information. It's a bummer that the last one isn't silver since I bought the lot as a silver coin lot. But there were over 70 coins in this lot, and all the rest of them appear to be silver. Still definitely worth the price I paid.

No, but it's part of a story of his deployment told in coins and banknotes.
