question 2000 5 nickle is this coin steel center. nickle plated. plus surface coating. would this be correct the reason I ask. I will show you and image

It's an alloy of 75% copper and 25% nickel known as cupronickel. No steel, plating or coating.

Spence the reason I ask is because what. your seeing is bare steel. I went to this pail that put all these american coins. here is a couple more 2000 Jefferson nickles that bottom step is round. take a look at the bottom step on the next 2 2000 Jefferson nickles. tell me what you think. so one is long one is bare the 3 nickle has a longer step. with some thing that might belong on the steps. these are all stamped P. you have seen the first one here is the other 2 images

Can you post full images of both sides with the question you have about the coin? I'm not sure what you're looking for.

i thought its time to show you guys a new variety. there is lots of markers. the easiest marker for those that want to find them easy. the pony tail take a close look at the braid that holds the hair and some of the hair is different as well.
