This 1000 Lire coin completes the Italian subsection of my Symphony Set of Coins. The coin commemorates Pietro Mascagni (1863-1945), a composer of primarily Italian operas. He wrote fifteen operas, an operetta, several orchestral and vocal works.
One of his most famous operas is "Cavalleria rusticana", which is about a village soldier who returns from war who finds the love of his life married to a cart handler. What follows is a plot of jealousy, revenge, duels, and death.

Kazakhstan 50 Tenge 2013 commemorative issue featuring Aldar Kose, a Robin Hood-type hero-trickster persona from Kazakh folk fairy tales. He is playing a dombra, a traditional 2-stringed Kazakh instrument in the lute family, while riding a donkey.

Got the same coin as Hondo in the mail today.

And another coin of Jambyl Zhabayev (Zhambyl Zhabayuly), the Kazakh folk singer and composer of the late 19th and early 20th century.

As mentioned in another post http://goccf.com/t/32990&whichpage=744#4006805), the Baltics and especially Estonia are big into singing contests.
About a dozen coins, medals, and tokens were struck since the first Song Festival was held in 1869 in Tartu, Estonia, to commemorate the occasion. Since these pieces can vary a lot in size and value, I decided that the best way to have a uniform presentation is by using NGC slabs. That means that even the cheapest coin is graded. For a single low value piece this may seem silly, but when the entire collection is taken into account I think it is acceptable.
As of today, three coins are now part of this Song Festival collection: a 1933 Kroon, a 1999 Kroon, and a 2019 2 Euro coin.

Note that I plan to have the Kroon from 1999 graded, unless I can buy a graded example for a good price.

I just had to order a BIGGER album for my collection of coins related to music. Is that a bad or a good sign?
