Hi guys,

I am new to coin collecting. Discovered another old coin from my grandfather's collection with issues and I would like some help determining if there are multiple errors going on with this 1938 Lincoln Wheat penny? Are the small cracks on the obverse of this coin indicators of a lamination error? Also would like to know if the small chunks of metal under the rim near the "N" in IN and near the "U" in Trust are referred to as die chips?

Last question, is this coin is worth grading?

Thanks very much.

@rosalita, not sure about the spots near the rim--better pics would help as this is the best I can do with what you have posted so far. There might be some light lams on the obv, but it isn't going to be worth it to send this coin to be slabbed.

Larger, higher resolution photos would help us determine what's going on with the coin. Important that the photos be larger and higher resolution. Thanks.

Having said all that, I think I can make out some lamination issues on the obverse. I think.

I agree with the above.
Also, look around the area of the metal near the end an determine if you see areas the metal came from. If so it probably is a post mint damage, not a hole / break in the die.
