I was noticing that the lower part of "S" mintmark on this 1945 S Lincoln Wheat penny is not fully apparent on this coin. Is this an error due to a worn die?
A close-up, high resolution photo of the mint mark would help better determine what's happening. Going with the photos posted, my first reaction is post mint damage--a circulation hit, early in the coin's life. I could be wrong.
Holding coins in your fingers make most of here cringe (fingerprints). Please consider purchasing a pair of cheapo white cotton gloves.
It's really difficult to see the area in question on your coin... can you get a close-up of the question area for us? Just lay your coin down on any surface, no need to hold it.
