1840 Braided Hair Liberty Cent (Small Date) Error On Reverse?

Rosalita Valued Member United States 96 Posts	Posted 06/20/2020 11:26 am Hi guys, I was closely looking at this coin and noticed that there are a few cracks on the reverse near the 'ICA' in America and was wondering if this is considered a lamination error? Also was wondering what the spot of metal is on the reverse at the bottom below the wreath on the rim? Lastly, I wanted to know which is more common on 1840 Braided Hair Liberty Cents, large or small dates? Report this Post to the Staff

Estimated populations are >30,000 for large date and >22,000 for small dates. Large date digits were punched in by hand one digit at a time into the die. There are date alignment differences between individual dies. Small dates were punched in all at once using a four digit logotype, This was the first date using the logotype.
