This nickel looks like it's gold plated but the front is worn down a lot from circulation.

I couldn't find any info on it. I'm not sure if it was made this way or somebody did this to it.

Yes looks gold plated , just somebody with a lot of time on their hands .

Definitely aftermarket plating job, perhaps to recreate the 1883 so-called Racketeer Nickel.
