Someone took a hammer and smashed a chisel or some sort of hard tool into your dime and in the strike, your coin was forced against "something" else to form the letter "C" on the obverse. I may not know the actual tools involved or the actual action, but the bottom line is your coin has been deliberately damaged after it left the mint. There is absolutely no way during the minting process that "something" went wrong and the result is your misshaped coin.
