The first no chrome I found was a 1952 and it stuck out like a sore thumb in a group of 1952's. Just put a 1950 nickel in with a bunch of Chrome coins and you will know what to look for.

Funny coin, the "no chrome" nickel. You see them around everywhere, however, there seems there is no demand for 'em. I picked one up a while back on a Gatewest auction site for a mere $40.00 U.S. It was an I.C.C.S., 1944, MS-64> no chrome nickel. Even at the local coin shop, they are in the nickel bins and binders in all different grades. I seldom hear anyone talking about them nor do I ever hear anyone asking about them. This is the first time the topic has come up! Interesting? Anyone else have anymore stories about the no chromers?

Canada is not one of the main countries I am colelcting, however, I still tend to buy/trade some to complete me album. Because of that my most expensive Canadian coin will make some of you guys laugh : AU 1950 1 Dollar coin (GeorgeVI). :)

This would be my most expensive. It's worth a whopping $7.50 (last time I checked) But as a gift from a fellow CCF member, it's worth a lot more. Thanks ScoutJim wherever you are. Steve

My most expensive Canadian coin would be a 2007 Commemorative dollar I bought a few years ago that was colored and had an Indian on it. I'm sorry I don't remember the name of it. The coin I get the most satisfaction from is the 1917 Large cent I bought a few weeks ago for $1.00 plus $9.00 shipping. 1917 cent

I don't have any expensive coins in my collection. I sell them. To collectors I know or their friends. I do have lots of coins that book between $100 and $350 but I'm not going to hang onto anything over $500. I think trends are much too high and so my $100 coins are actually more like $50 in the real world. I just like looking for them. And I'm a date collector so I'll buy the same date over and over and over. Just to study the incremental grades and conditions.

Lovely AU-58 1894 50c, bought at melt as part of a large bullion deal in 1981. Sold it about twelve years ago, alas, but it became a big contribution toward the down payment on a new house.
