Hello everyone I'm I12cCoins2 and I'm new to the Coincommunity forum. I've been gathering coins for some time but only recently began assessing them. I believe this pandemic gave me the time to really focus and inspect the coins I'd been gathering.
Now I'm all over the place, not sure where to begin and there's just so much information and terminology I never even knew existed but I'm just mesmerized by what I find.... not knowing for sure what my finds are. Still I have found something I truly enjoy. So here I am, in search of information/guidance and sharing the same on my coin collecting journey.
When I registered and was browsing through the various forum topics I read that we lost a member (Mr. Butch) I extend my sincere condolences to all who knew and loved/cared for him. These are truly trying times we're in. May he rest in peace.

My first dilemma is, which US coin do I start with. I'm just beginning to organize them, daunting task at times and I don't know which ones to save and which to just use as normal... especially with the quarters.
My apologies, this is getting long... just wanted to say Hi aaand introduce myself. Hello my fellow coin catchers.

to CCF. Which coin to focus on is up to you. My focus is Lincoln Cent varieties. You also need to decide whether to collect errors, varieties, high grade etc.

Even at your beginning, confused and bewildered, you must have already developed a liking. Are the big silver dollars attractive to you? Or perhaps the humble cents?
No matter...
only YOU can decide. Trust your instinct.
Now, those new quarters...
Which are worth saving?
I have seen this question a lot. It costs you NOTHING to put aside a coin that you got from circulation It will always be worth a quarter. If like the design then save it. Or spend it next week, next month, next year.
As for the terminology.... Well, every discipline has its jargon and coin collecting is no exception.
Do your best to learn it, but DO NOT let it interfere with your love of the little metal disks.
It will soon become second nature to you.
Now, I12cCoins2.... Take a deep breath....
The members will be happy to guide you on your journey.... They are a nice bunch of guys and gals!
