The easiest way to confirm this coin as a 25 cent on a dime is to weigh it, ask your friend to take the coin to a friendly Canada Post, their scales are accurate. I believe Canadian Coin and Currency has an example graded but a different year on their website

Quote: one person who says he knows spp quite well and says he knows nickle dollars but this is not a nickle dollar If that person really knew me, they would know I dive into errors so much more than just nickel dollars... so tell that person to debate and lay out their arguments about the coin, not the person.

I definitely will put my money where my mouth is... and offer to buy it... your friend should get a fair price for that coin, and not toss it or give it away based on popular opinion of a Facebook post.

I was asked to contribute to this thread. It appears to be a genuine wrong planchet error. There's nothing suspicious about its appearance.

Obviously I have some work to do with respect to wrong planchet errors. I bow to the experts in here and apologize for my ignorance...

No apologies necessary. Collecting and learning about errors is not easy, and there is something new to learn almost every day. Every error collector I know paid good money on a fake error early in their collecting days, and used that experience to learn from it. It is about reverse engineering something made by lots of pressure and high speed presses. A bit of knowledge of chemistry, metallurgy and physics helps (especially Newton's Third Law)
There are still coins in my collection that I know came from the mint (out of a mint bag), but cannot figure out how the heck they happened... I do have a connection at the Winnipeg production mint, and sometimes stuff I find even leaves their engineers scratching their heads.
