According to "The Mint on Carson Street" by Rusty Goe, fewer than 300 1871-CC halves survive in all grades. I purchased from him a few years back raw and have since slabbed it. The reverse die was over-polished on this variety so the design elements at the lower left side of the reverse (including the CC) show weak detail. The grade is PCGS MS-63, with some nice original tone. Report this Post to the Staff
