1990 1¢ Wdoubled Die Obverse / DDO -003 (It Has To Be)

Haha, this was the very next coin I picked up since the last topic I made. From Wexler's 1990 1¢ WDDO-003 Description: Strong extra thickness shows on the date especially the lower nines. A notch shows on the lower left of the one. Die Markers: Obverse: None significant. Reverse: A small die gouge touches the lower right of the I in UNITED. A die gouge can be found between the lower N and E in ONE. Looks like a match to me. Report this Post to the Staff

Awesome, I almost passed it up thinking it was yet another Machine Doubling. I kept thinking the numbers looked "somehow different" than the rest I've seen and decided to go back through the small pile I was checking (I actually pulled it from the pile 4-5 times to look at it). Then finally looked it up over at Wexler's and saw that the die markers matched up. I don't have any acetone right now (I've always heard that you shouldn't ever clean coins), but since it's already pretty bad looking, I ran it under water and rubbed it with my fingers to get any stuck dirt or dust off and let it air dry. Then I checked again and both the die markers are still there. Report this Post to the Staff
