Uh-oh, now I may have a problem. My card expires this August and even though I'll have a new one by the time my order ships, I wonder if my order will be cancelled. Does anyone know if I call customer service with the new card info they'll be able to change the info on my order?
If you bought this while logged into your account and you have your payment info saved you should be fine as long as you update your payment information as soon as you can after activating your new card. This assumes your number is the same and only the expiry date and CVV have changed.

However, if you bought as a guest or do not have your payment information saved, I assume it will be cancelled unless you can somehow get customer service to intervene.

October / November... 2021 Right?
In this case, a legitimate question.

I have read in another blog that someone who had a completed order was then target of fraud, and the bank closed the card. When he called the mint customer service line, he was told they could not switch the card to the new card. That would be terrible if true, but that being said, I wouldn't trust what the customer service rep tells you. I have been told many conflicting statements from Mint CSRs when dealing with a pretty big issue before.

In my experiencing sending an email to mint customer service and CCing the Director Ryder quickly lead to resolution. I am not sure if it is appropriate to put his email here, but lets just say it follows typical government emails with the @usmint.treas.gov and before that the Title and last name. I would call customer service to see if they would help you prior to doing anythinge else.

This is exactly what happened to me, my card was canceled after I bought the coins due to fraud so I've got that to work through.

It's official. I'm going crazy trying to figure out if I'm getting coins or not. I don't expect anyone to understand all this, but here it goes....

Initial order was 5 coins of each....during checkout, CC had sold out, so I only got 5 "O" Morgans. Confirmed order thru email for $427.

Looking at my Credit Card the next day, there is a pending charge of $854, which would have been for my original order. (5 coins each)

A few days later, the entire $854 order was removed from my credit card.

I log on the US Mint site, and see I have two orders. One for the $854 order and the other for the $427 order. Odd...I contact the mint, and they tell me both are on back-order, and my credit card will not be charged until they ship.

Question....did anyone have their credit card charged? I have a sneaky feeling both my order will be cancelled.

I did not get the recent email from them about the actual shipping date, like others have received.

For virtually all credit card transactions, the merchant is able to use the system to check if there's ample credit for the transaction to go through. This is called a pending charge. The amount of the pending charge may differ from reality. A good example is a credit card charge from a restaurant. It doesn't include the tip. Another example is a charge from a gas station. These are typically for $1. After this pending charge, the actual charge typically comes through in about three days. Now in the case of these preorders, a pending charge hit the credit cards. However, because the merchant didn't complete the transaction, the charge disappeared. When the coins are ready to ship, they'll do another pending charge to verify that the credit card is still good before shipment. FYI, pending charges do not count towards your credit card balance, so you won't pay interest on them if you're running a balance. They do count towards your available credit. If they disappear because the transaction wasn't completed, your available credit will increase. Bottom line is that I'm pretty confident that you have two orders for a total of fifteen coins.

Moral of the story, I'm not using my card I used for my purchase, in fact I'll be keeping it in my dresser, so that I don't get fraudulent charges on it, until I have the coins in hand

As far as I would think, if you have two active backorders listed in your history, then you are golden.

Also, not being able to re-charge against a different card is simply BAD customer service. There is no reason they shouldn't do this with such large gaps between ordering and shipping. 1/2 year is going to catch a number of people with issues. Also, people have to move sometimes. If the Mint is going to delay by 1/2 year, they really need to think ahead and be able to provide appropriate customer service (hahaha right). It's sad that we expect the least service from them.

Saw a u.s. mint letter that the pop up when ordering about a June release was an error and shouldn't have happened. All of them will release Oct-Nov. As planned.

Bret, thank you for you detail response and I hope your are right. If I happen to get both orders, I will not need 5 of the "O" Morgans and will sell them at costs.
