I am new to the paper currency and focus mainly on Canadian small cents but today I went to a local flea market and when I purchased a bunch of coins I came across this 1954 bill in a clear sleeve and found it pretty interesting.

I know there is a devil face version and I am just curious if this would be it, and I was wondering what everyones opinions would be regarding grade/condition. Also, the photos are taken with the bill still in the sleeve.

Did I do good?

You have a modified portrait version, not the Devil's face portrait, your note came from a 40,000,000 note run. And trends for
5$ in A.U. condition.

If it was a star note, with that prefix, and that signature combination it would have been a big $$$ note.

Your note is not a devil's face it has what is called a modified portrait.
The Lawson-Bouey signatures indicate it was printed no earlier than 1973.
Grading notes from pics is very difficult, yours looks to be about EF.

Thank you for the replies, I figured as much. I had it given to me for free since I made a fairly large purchase of coins that I have been wanting so I still think I did fairly good.

I also started my Canadian paper collection when someone gave me a free 1973 dollar bill. It was used and worth a buck, but started me down a truly enjoyable hobby.

Your 1954 $1 dollar bill may be a nice start. Looks like a circulated EF 40 bill with 3 vertical folds and some corner wear.

Enjoy
